Evan Rachel Wood

Several months ago I did Evan Rachel Wood’s make up for an event in NYC.  She had just cut all her hair off and I was seeing it for the first time.  I almost always have a camera with me and since we finished a few minutes early we had an impromptu photo shoot on the hotel balcony . Hello!

Welcome to ByJakeBailey.com

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by beautiful women.

I spent my childhood preoccupied with old movies and the astounding beauties that starred in them.  Marilyn Monroe was of particular interest as you can see by these drawings I did between the ages of 6 and 9.

Marlene Dietrich,  Greta Garbo, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, on and on and on…..

In provincial Salt Lake City during the early 80’s this fascination with women was enough to give my parents a glimmer (a dim glimmer) of hope that I might interested in marrying a woman one day. This was not to be the case .

This site is not only about make up. While I intend to share with you my  favorite products, beauty secrets, tales from behind the scenes, makeovers and demonstrations I am also excited to share my experiences as I pursue a new creative challenge…..Photography. Photography has always been a passion of mine and a few years ago I began to incorporate it into my work.  I began photographing my favorite clients and friends. Experimenting with make up and lighting and just being creative and having fun in general.

This is my first “professional” photo shoot . My dear friend and longtime client Paris Hilton told me that they needed a photo for their New Year’s invite and asked if I would do it. Paris knew that I loved photography and being the lovely and generous friend that she is…gave me a shot.
